Day 98 - Rest in Jesus' Finished Work

To be seated in Christ is to rest, to trust in Him, and to receive everything our beautiful Savior has accomplished on our behalf.

I would like you to read the scripture below and then ask yourself, what does it mean to be seated together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus?  It simply means that today, we are in a position of rest in Jesus' finished work.  To be seated in Christ is to rest, to trust in Him, and to receive everything our beautiful Savior has accomplished on our behalf.  God wants us to take the position of relying on Jesus for good success in every area of our lives, instead of relying on our good works and human efforts to achieve success.

The devil is a master at deception and he knows that if we look to ourselves then he has us.  The devil will accuse you, point out your flaws and will keep reminding you of your past failures and use condemnation to continually use the tool of defeat in your life.  I speak to myself and all of you when I say, it is time for us to step out from being self-conscious and self-occupied, and begin to be Christ-occupied instead.

The question is never, "am I accepted before God?"  The question to ask yourself is, "is Jesus accepted before God?"  Remember according to 1 John, as Christ is, so are you in this world.  So if Jesus is accepted then so are you.  The old covenant of the law is all about you and keeping the law perfectly, the new covenant is all about Jesus and what He has already done perfectly on our behalf.

This entire long devotional series can be summed up as:
The law places the demand on you to perform and make you self conscious, whereas grace places the demand on Jesus and make you Jesus-conscious.

Can you imagine thinking, "am I pleasing to my father or mother?"  If the answer is no, the child will grow up emotionally warped if he does not have the security in knowing that he is loved and accepted by his parents.  It is no different than your Father God.  Many people struggle with whether they are accepted or loved completely by God.  The pure fact is that you are completely accepted and loved by God as one of His children no matter what you do.  As soon as you realize that you are completely accepted and loved in the beloved, it is the second your life changes forever!

What about fitness?
This is probably the tenth time that I have said that fitness in this world is all based on performance.  The devil is great to point out what we have failed at, where we fall short and why we will not succeed.  This my friends is just not true!

No matter how good your health or fitness, God does not look at you this way.  He looks at you with acceptance, love, compassion as a great father would.  He wants you to have success and He does not want you to live in guilt or condemnation.  He is crying out and waiting for you to come to Him.

When you are stepping in His presence in your fitness life you never ever feel condemned, and if the devil tries to point out your flaws, you simply can look at him and remind the enemy who your Father is and who you are in Him.  Your sole responsibility in your life is to realize who you actually are in God and then live that out in every area of your life including your health and fitness.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.   --   Ephesians 2:4-7
