Day 95 - Personalize God's Favor In Your Life
It is your prerogative to see yourself as the disciple whom Jesus loves, and to call yourself that!
Today's devotion is one of my most favorite days and in my opinion one of the most powerful spiritual truths you will ever know. I stumbled upon this after reading Joseph Prince teachings and then studying the Bible for myself. This one simple revelation changed my life and how I looked at myself.
In the Bible John is referred to as the disciple whom Jesus loved, but do you want to know the real secret to this? It is only mentioned in the gospel of John and not the gospel of Matthew, Mark or Luke. You see John was making a self declaration, nothing more, nothing less. Don't believe me? Look it up for yourself and you will see it is only mentioned in the gospel of John.
There was nothing more special about John than anyone else, He simply was declaring that Jesus loved him. Matthew, Mark and Luke or any of the disciples could have called themselves the disciples whom Jesus loved. Not only could they have said it but so should you and you should today and every single day. We as a family (The Forster's) have it plastered on our wall on a gigantic poster. We want to keep reminding ourselves that we are the disciples whom Jesus loves. John was practicing and personalizing the love that Jesus had for him and you should do this as well because it is true for all of His children today.
When you realize that you are loved by God and see yourself as John saw himself, you will step into a new dimension of experiencing God's grace in your life. If you keep reminding yourself of this simple fact you will grow in the consciousness of the Lord's love for you. When you see miracles or great things happening to people the world will call this luck. I believe that there is no such thing as luck and only the unmerited favor of Jesus.
So do you want the unmerited favor of Jesus to flow more fluidly in your life? Simply personalize the statement, "your name is the disciple whom Jesus loves."
What about fitness?
As I have stated several times, fitness is hard and the pressure to live up to what you think you should be or what society deems as acceptable can be overbearing at times. Yes being in good shape and being healthy is holy, but it will not make you holy. Yes having good fitness is good, but it will not make you good.
You cannot get in good shape on your own because the pressure can and is too daunting. However if you discard the world, your ability to get in shape improves dramatically. When you understand the love that the Father has for you, the world and the world's standards just does not matter any more. When you realize that by His blood and His sacrifice you are already holy, then getting in shape is just reigning in life. Getting in shape is simply about love and something very personal between you and your savior. Spend time and understand the love the Lord has for you today!
Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?" -- John 21:20
It is your prerogative to see yourself as the disciple whom Jesus loves, and to call yourself that!
